Cross linked plantain starch-urea as a polymer in matrix tablets of ambroxol hydrochloride

Plantain (Musa paradisiaca) starch,  prepared as crosslinked starch-urea (CSU), was utilized in the formulation of matrix tablets ambroxol hydrochloride. CSU synthesized by gelatinization plantain starch urea, with calcium chloride. Native and were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), chemical material properties. Ambroxol hydrochloride prepared CSU, 1:1 blend Hydroxyl propyl methylcellulose (HPMC K15M) HPMC K15M alone at 20, 30 40%w/w. The 32 factorial design used to optimize polymer type (X1) concentration (X2) independent variables, crushing strength-friability ratio (CSFR) time for 80% drug release (t80) responses. SEM revealed changes ovoid granules native larger, irregular CSU. XRD spectra a more crystalline higher swelling better flow. Polymer had influence on CSFR t80. optimized batch containing 40 %w/w exhibited highest values release. Experimental responses optimised close proximity predicted value. Cross-linked found suitable
